Orotol plus – the best for your suction system

Our special expertise

In 1965 DÜRR DENTAL launched the world’s first disinfection solution for suction systems in the form of its Orotol system. Today, Orotol plus is the most widely-used disinfectant in this area. The reasons for this are obvious: the product is easy to use and efficient, and it combines a broad action spectrum with high material compatibility. It is based on the decades of experience and expertise that DÜRR DENTAL can offer as a long-standing manufacturer of suction units – expertise that is absolutely indispensable in the development of this type of product. After all, a disinfectant that is to be used in a suction system needs to meet special requirements. For example, the product must not foam up, as otherwise the system will be damaged.

Preventing foaming in the suction system

It goes without saying that a suction system disinfectant must be effective, but there is also another key requirement: it must be non-foaming when used. This is because even a highly effective disinfectant can cause more harm than good in the suction system if it foams up. Foaming not only interferes with the suction process, in the worst case it can cause failure of the suction system. Consequently, a good disinfectant needs to be designed specifically for this purpose to ensure that foaming is ideally avoided altogether. Under no circumstances must unsuitable cleaning agents (e.g. household detergents) be poured into the suction system. But even when it comes to ‘proper’ disinfectants for suction systems, there are still significant differences between different products, as can be seen here in the video. With Orotol plus you have a solution you can always rely on – trust the expertise and strength of the market leader in dental practice hygiene.

Fun fact about Orotol

Did you know that Orotol was invented in 1965 in the bath? At the time, the product was a revolution for dental practices. Suction units themselves would probably not have been a long-term success without it. Without adequate disinfection, a suction system will become contaminated within a very short space of time. In order to solve this problem, company founder Walter Dürr set out to develop a new product together with his friend Ludwig Pflug. And this is how the story of Orotolbegan. The initial research laboratory and production site was the bathroom in the Dürr family home.
