Dürr Dental is making the management of amalgam disposal even easier. Traditionally, fill level indicators or sensors, which emit an acoustic signal, recognise when a collecting container has reached the maximum level of 95%. Previously, the person in charge of hygiene then had to contact the disposal company and the dental equipment wholesaler. But this is no longer required.

After setting up the software-supported system and obtaining consent from the practice, it works like this: When the amalgam collecting container reaches a fill level of 95%, an e-mail is automatically sent to the relevant disposal company. The e-mail gives details of the amalgam separator type, serial number and the practice, and a request is made to contact the practice for disposal as soon as possible. At the same time, an e-mail is also sent to the dental equipment wholesaler; it is asked to contact the practice to arrange the delivery of a new container.

This creates a semi-automated amalgam supply workflow (models CA 1, CAS 1, CA 2, VSA 300 S and CA 4 from Dürr Dental). The new procedure can be seen as a kind of practice assistant that handles the legally compliant disposal of the full container and then orders a new one. Also important: this system ensures compliance with regulatory requirements!

In particular, the automatic notifications sent to the disposal company and dental equipment wholesaler effectively reduces the workload of the practice team. This ensures that everything runs seamlessly, allowing all team members to concentrate on important day-to-day tasks in the practice.

The the IoT application VistaSoft Monitor can be used to check on the status of the devices from anywhere, at any time. The practice also benefits from warnings in real time. In the event of a fault, the colour orange indicates “action required” while the colour blue reassures that “everything is okay”. In addition, notifications regarding upcoming maintenance and inspections can also be sent to relevant service departments, where appropriate.

If action is needed, the devices automatically send their own notifications. These can also be sent directly to the dental equipment wholesaler. Its technical support team then takes action, contacts the practice, advises of upcoming maintenance, carries out remote maintenance if necessary or arranges an on-site appointment. This applies in particular to Dürr Dental compressors (e.g. Duo Tandem, Quattro Tandem), suction systems (Tyscor product range), the combination of compressors and suction systems in the “Power Tower”, image plate scanners (e.g. VistaScan Mini, Combi and Ultra), hygiene technology (Hygoclave and Hygopac View) and amalgam separators (e.g. CA 4).
