During the assignment, the "Global Mercy" was docked in a port on Tenerife. The trainees did temporary and repair work on Mercy Ships' newest hospital ship such as building cabinets, installing disinfection dispensers, wall cabinets and curtains for hospital beds. They also got to work independently installing operating room doors.
On the Canary Island of Tenerife, both of them were able to gain many positive impressions and experiences regarding different cultures and the work on a hospital ship. They were warmly welcomed into the team by the other volunteers and were also involved in leisure activities. Due to the variety of countries of origin and cultures of the volunteers on board, the two were able to use and improve their English skills.
